It takes a special person to work or volunteer in the long-term care environment. It involves communicating, listening and empowering those around us. It requires the ability to treat each individual as a whole person, recognizing that we are uniquely made, and should be cared for and valued as such. People need to be dedicated to the service of others, who are compassionate, who understand that this is more than just a job or volunteer opportunity, it is truly a calling.
